Wirral U15 this Sunday

Matthew Walker, Harry Bush and Kieran Riddiough will be playing for the Wirral this weekend against Shropshire. Good luck boys!!

U14 v Calday Grange

The Yr 9 team take on Calday Grange Grammar at the Bebington Oval tonight at 4.15. This is another chance for the boys to develop their skills and apply them to the game. Just keeping possession will be the key and taking the opportunities when they arise!!

Result - 3-0 (L) A good performance and chances created also, there is definate improvement here boys!! Thanks to Mr Thomason, Chris Scott and Mr Hoare who helped out today. Keep it up boys.

Well Done (U15 Boys)

Well done to Harry Bush, Matthew Walker and Kieran Riddiough for their selection for the Wirral U15s. This is a credit to these boys who play for local clubs and have developed into talented players over the last year or so. We wish them every success when representing their county.

1st XI v Calday

On Wednesday the 22nd November the 1st XI will take on Calday Grange at 2.30 at Calday. Wirral will be out for revenge after their earlier encounter at the beginning of October when Wirral felt cheated out of a victory.

21st Nov U16 v Calday Grange

This is likely to be a highly competitive game against Calday. Lets make sure we get our revenge boys after our draw earlier in the season. Play positive attacking hockey boys!!

Result - 1-0 (L) A very close competitive game in which Wirral has plenty of chances just failing to cover them lead to a sucker punch as Calday scored the only goal.

Basic Hockey Yrs 7/8/9

Basic Hockey for all boys who would like to start playing hockey and to develop their basic skills should meet in the PE changing rooms by the gym at 3.45 on Fridays. The Hockey runs until 4.45 at school.

Wirral v Neston 1st XI

The 1st XI Wirral cup game was a highly competitive encounter that was very evenly matched for large parts of the game. Both Wirral and Neston had good early chances, but it was Wirral were looked more likely to score. Good performances by Brad Cook, Chris Drew and solid defending by Peter Van Berkum and Will Oldham ensured the score was a stalemate until the last minute of the first half. A mistake in the Wirral midfield left a Neston midfielder to power into the dee only to be upended by Chris Scott. CCC WHISTLED PENALTY STROKE!! 1-0 half time.

To Wirrals annoyance the Neston boys who play in the same side together week in week out took ther chances in the second half and with the Wirral boys not taking their own good chances including one on ones with the keeper the score was probably fair. This really disappointing as the Caldy result has affected their progress to the final that i feel they deserve.

Well Done to Chris Scott and Adam Liu who were selected for the Wirral, I will keep you posted on there progress, results and development. Chris is also the vice captain of the side.

Yr 10 House Matches Results

On a terrible evening weather wise, an entertaining evening of Hockey took place at the Bebington Oval. The four houses of Barber, Dodds, Hodgson and Lever were well represented and the four goalkeepers of David Johnstone, Joe Burchill, Jamie Baxter and Alex Smith all got kitted up in the rain. The matches started with two matches taking place on half of a pitch.

A good start to the matches with plenty of chances in both games and good goalkeeping. These boys have massively improved!!

Possibly game of the night was the Hodgson v Dodds game with good attacking play from both sideds and good attacks from Spink and Bush especially for Dodds. Well Done!

All these results meant that on goal differance Lever were the winners from Hodgson both teams winning 2 and drawing against each other. Dodds were 3rd and Barber 4th. A special note to goalscorers Andy Spink (4) and Jack Evans (3). Well Done boys.

Wirral v Neston 1st XI

On Wednesday the 1st XI will play Neston for a place in the Wirral Cup finals. The game is at the Oval with the team getting to the Oval for 1.45.

Yr 10 House Matches

Tuesday 14th Nov. Oval

The Year 10 House matches will take place on Tuesday 14th Nov at the Bebington Oval from 4.00 - 5.30. Who will win, Barber, Dodds, Lever of Hodgson. Were looking forward to a good competitive tournament.

Wirral v Sandbach 1st/2nd XI

After a slightly disrupted start and the Wirral lads taking to the pitch with odd shirts we started brightly. Early attacks down the right were productive with Jarmay and Cook linking well. This led to the opening goal with good link play down the right and with a finish from close range by Cooie. Good play throughout the first half led to a few chances that were not converted. We withheld some pessure on the goal at the end of the first half, but the score remained 1-0.

The 2nd half started brightly and the team used quick attacks down both flanks with Taylor and Graves this allowed Drew and Cook to support Harries. Another good close finish from Harries and further strikes from Steadman and Graves took us to 4-0. A solid defensive performance was achieved and a well deserved clean sheet.

Wirral 1st XI v St Anselms (1-1) Taylor.

A highly competitive game as usual against our local rivals, but not the best hockey at time. There were too many times when the ball was given away by the Wirral side who missed at times the presence of Graeme Williams in defence. When we did pass the ball we looked effective and created chances but these were few and far between. A better second half provailed but we must learnt to play with a better approach and tempo to ensure we can dominate sides.

Wirral 2nd XI v St Anselms (1-0) Harries

A good open game with plenty of space and better passing from the second team.With good performances by many team members when we started to pass the ball down the right hand side we started to create opportunities and look dangerous. Good linkage play between Liu, Jarmay, Walton and Kelly lead to the only goal finished with aplomb by Marc Harries.
